Stanislav Valtera active in Open Science Program

Article about propagating of Open Science program was published in Academic Bulletin – magazine of Czech Academic of Science (CAS) in September 2021. The article promotes the involvement of high school students in research and encourages researchers from CAS to get involved in the project with their actual research topics. Based on long-term cooperation with Department of Nanocatalysis and the Open Science project and the active approach of Stanislav Valtera in Open Science program was Stanislav chose for interview for Academic Bulletin. Lecturers Stanislav Valtera from J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS and Barbara Líznerová the Institute of Art History of the CAS discus what are the benefits and pitfalls of involving high school students in the work of a scientist at CAS. They both agree that internship is beneficial for both students and lecturers and that they will be involved in the project again. One of the questions during the interview was, What are you dealing with interns nowadays? Stanislav answering “Due to the crisis around Covid-19, we haven't had much time yet. Trainees should gain experience, look at different measuring methods, and most importantly try them out with their own hands. We have already prepared nanoparticles of different sizes and observed them under a scanning electron microscope. We plan to test the catalytic properties of clusters and evaluate them” (English translation)
